Good Morning! Love this video, it shows the amazing power we all have to make a difference, however small, in somebodies life. We would all do well to follow it, and maybe 'commit' a few random acts of kindness every day. If we did, then the world would be a so much happier, better place.

Have a wonderful day!

The Story of the Christams Tree: An Ancient Symbol

Most people wonder where the custom of having a Christmas tree comes from, so here's what I have found!

Thousands of years ago, in pre Christian times, the people of the day believed that evergreen trees were magic. When all the other trees were brown and bare, and had lost all their leaves, the evergreen was still strong and green.

People back then saw this as a symbol of life in the depths of Winter. A sure sign that Spring , with it's warmer times and sunshine would soon return, breathing new life into everything once again.

The lights we have on our trees, or candles as they were originally, are also an ancient symbol. They represent the light of Spring triumphing over the darkness of Winter. The ancient Romans would have a special feast in mid-Winter where they would decorate their homes with greenery, and like our current Christmas Time, shops were closed and there was a carnival like atmosphere and, like today, they gave each other presents.

It is said the Christmas tree came 'indoors' around the early 1500's. A German monk by the name of Martin Luther was returning home one Winters night  through a forest, and he saw the stars twinkling between the bare branches. He was so enthralled by the beauty of what he had seen that he wanted to explain to his brothers. So to do this he cut a small fir tree down and brought it back home, then decorated it with candles to represent the stars he had seen twinkling.

The custom took off from there and spread throughout Germany, then all over the world. In the UK the first Christmas tree appeared when Queen Victoria married Albert, who was German. He set up their first Christmas tree in 1841, to remind him of his homeland and their customs.

In the US the custom was brought over by immigrants from England as well as Germany in the 1800's.

So when you sit this Christmas and look at your tree, it has a history dating back thousands of years, and like many Christian traditions, it's roots (pardon the pun!) can be found in the old Pagan religions of the past.

Have a Merry Christmas!

The Inspirational Message of George Carlin.

George Carlin was a famous comedian, actor and writer. Sadly he passed away 22nd June 2008. The message below was written by him, but I haven't seen it widely circulated.

It was poignant back then, but even more so now...so I thought I'd share it with those that would like to read it.

George's Message;

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time.

We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.

We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less. These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.

These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when the technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Thank you for taking the time to read it, I hope it's made you think..and that some of his thoughts inspire you.

Three Inspirations For Happiness

The following three inspirations were adapted from A Daily Dose of Happiness, and they represent three key ways to increase our happiness. I hope you find them of some benefit, as the world needs more happiness, and an increase in world happiness starts with each one of us.

1. FORGIVING FOR HAPPINESS
We like to think we are better than our friends below us in the food chain, such as the octopus and the snail. After all, we have love. We feel happiness. We have empathy. We have a conscience. We can reason.
We can also hold onto grudges.
Grudges are, in fact, prickly little creatures that worm their way into our hearts. Holding onto them is a self-defeating exercise.
Fortunately, forgiveness is also uniquely human. Forgiveness cleanses the spirit. Forgiveness let's us get on with enjoying our lives instead of being preoccupied with someone else's. Forgiveness opens the door to happiness.

2. SUPPORTING FOR HAPPINESS
When things seem to be very bleak, it does not take much to lift someone's spirits. Sometimes all it takes is to let somebody know they are not alone.
That is why it is so important to smile at people, especially if they look down. And if you know what is weighing the person down, let them know they are not alone. Don't go burdening them with all your miseries, but let them know you have been there.
Guess what? You will feel happiness for having helped them, too.

3. ACCEPTING FOR HAPPINESS
There is no such thing as happiness if you are not at peace with yourself. Too many people just don't know how to make peace with themselves.
Peace begins with acceptance. Whether we agree with everything we do (like the environmentalist who sometimes throws out a recyclable container), it is important to accept what we do.
Do we always make the best choices? No. But they are the choices we make.
Do we always treat people with the most respect? No. But it is how we treat people.
Can we improve? Yes, and we should. But that is a project for the future. First we must accept who we are now, rather than condemning ourselves. Then we can move to improve the person we will be tomorrow. Both acceptance today and improvements tomorrow will increase our happiness. .

Using The Language of Self Hypnosis

Words are just a part of our lives aren’t they? Why do we need to think about them? When I teach people self-hypnosis, the language they use in self-hypnosis sessions is very important. What's more, the kind of language used in self-hypnosis can be used outside of formal self-hypnosis too, to enhance your communication with yourself at all times.

The words that you use in and out of self-hypnosis carry a lot of connotation and a lot of deeper meanings for you as they do for everyone. What one word means to one person can mean something completely different to another.

Think about an occasion in your life that was a wonderful occasion; maybe a happy birthday, the birth of a child, a wedding or a celebration, maybe a time when you achieved something, when you succeeded or maybe a time when you felt the full force of joy or love. Really think about that experience. Remember what you saw, remember and think about the sounds that you heard and think about how you know and how you knew you felt so good then. Whereabouts in your body were those good feelings? Now, as you really think about that memory and immerse yourself in it, think about the words that you would use to describe that experience.

These are the words that are going to elicit the most powerful response from within you when you use them in self-hypnosis sessions and when you communicate with yourself at any time.

Have a think about these questions; what words make you feel good? Which words give you good feelings? Make a list of the words that appeal to you. You can use a thesaurus to help.

Ask yourself; how would I like to feel? Here are some good words you may like to use in your self-hypnosis or just to frequent the internal workings of your mind with: Healthy, Peace, Balance, Harmony, Relaxed, Confident, Good, Happy, Powerful, Joyful, Calm, Unison, Assured, Vibrant, Loving, Progressive, Better, Beautiful.

All a bit obvious, I know you get the idea. It is really important though that you do actually use words that have a good meaning to you and make you feel
good within your self-hypnosis or just your internal dialogue.

Now, I am going to add a couple of words here for you to think about. Think about the words “more and more” and “increasingly.” These words are going to be important to create growth, power and fluidity in your mind. Let me explain how.

Consider the sentence “as a result of achieving my ideal weight I am happy.” This is a nice way to remind yourself that achieving this particular goal whatever it might be for you)you are happy. Great. However, we can make that more powerful by changing a rather static “happy” to “more and more happy.” I don’t know about you, but I would never want to think that I ever reached the pinnacle of happiness and could not go any further.

“Happy” is static. In order to supercharge your programmes and the way you utilize language in and out of self-hypnosis, you can mobilize the words and get them moving onwards and upwards for you. You can change “Happy” to “Happier and happier” or “more and more happy” or “increasingly happy” or “progressively more happy” or “more and more appropriately happy. “ Use whatever feels right for you, just use other words to develop and power it up.

Words to Avoid:
Some of these words may seem fine and feel fine to use for you. I am just giving you ideas and considerations when using these words in and out of self-hypnosis.

When communicating with yourself , my recommendation is that you consider avoiding the following words and types of words;

Words that elicit bad feelings. Words that are ambiguous.
Words that are limiting, restrictive or dis-empower you. Words that you are uncomfortable with.

When communicating with yourself, ask yourself these questions: Is there another phrase or word that is better? Is there a word or phrase I find more pleasing? Is there a way in which you can put your energy and power into this suggestion in a better way?

So, firstly, I want to point out some words that can elicit bad feelings:
Try, can’t, won’t, don’t, should, shouldn’t, must, mustn’t,
jealousy, temper, no, lose, will, sad, difficult, but.
I want to point out a couple of these words in particular.

The word “try” sends a shudder down my spine!.

When you are trying to do something, you are not doing it. You build in failure by using the word try. So just remove it from your internal communication.

You will have heard that expression “if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again.” Yuck. Awful stuff!. It really should read “if at first you don’t succeed, try and try, and try and try and try and try and try… etc, etc.” You want to do the things you want to do, you want to achieve the things you want to achieve; you don’t want to try and do them or try and achieve them.

As Yoda said 'Do or do not do...there is no try!'

The word “Will” is another one to avoid if you can. Will is not actually happening, it is something you will do rather than actually are doing. It never occurs. You know, you can put almost any sentence together with the word will in and simply remove that word to make it more progressive and positive for your self-hypnosis requirements. Have a go at doing that.

Here are a couple of examples;

“As a result of stopping smoking I will be healthier.” Now becomes; “As a result of stopping smoking I am healthier.”

“I will successfully achieve my goals” is transformed into “I successfully achieve my goals.”

Here we have just removed it to make it more progressive. You see, it is those finer distinctions that I refer to often that can really make a difference to the way you use language, and you may as well really use it more and more powerfully while you are in the state of self-hypnosis.

Lots of people tell me that they want to “Lose” weight. I always tell them that no one loses when they come to see me. Think about what else you lose in life. Generally, it is things that you would rather have kept like your keys or your wallet. You generally lose things that you want to find again. Lose has many negative connotations. Instead of losing weight, reframe it with the words “achieving and maintaining the size, shape and weight that pleases me.” This is much more progressive.

Finally for this section, I want to mention the word “But.” This word can often be seen to be negating what has come before it; I would really like to come out tonight, but I have to wash my hair. Of course I really love you, but I need to pursue my career. I had a great time, but that guy sitting next to me was rude.

This might not always be the case for you; however, it is for you to be aware of when addressing your own unconscious mind in and out of self-hypnosis.

Secondly, I recommend that you really do avoid using words that are putdowns.
They don’t really have a place in self-hypnosis or your mind at all. Avoid the following words and words like them:

Untidy, Dirty, Smelly, Ugly, Stupid, Lazy, Hopeless, Disliked, Unkempt, Smelly, Idiot, Embarrass, Ridiculous. I know you know lots more. I don’t really like even having to write these in this article. Your internal dialogue and self-hypnosis sessions are better without these words.

This next set of words is for you to keep aware of and avoid if you feel they limit you or your programme in any way.  I am referring to words that are absolutes. These are words that have no flexibility, that are final. For example:
Always, totally, closed, never, finish, impossible, definitely, completely, death, cancelled. You may for example, state in a self-hypnosis session or tell yourself that you never smoke again. Which is fine and good for some people. However, you may have one too many glasses of sherry at Christmas and have a sneaky puff on your friend’s cigar. Now this does not make you a regular smoker again, however, it has negated the sentiments that you told yourself. It has made your internal communication to yourself less credible to you because you wrote that you would never smoke again and you just did, albeit only one puff, by writing that you would never do it, you leave no flexibility and you leave no room for interpretation of particular circumstances that may arise.

That may be fine with some, just bear it in mind. I mentioned the subject earlier within the guidelines for writing programmes and that is the notion of ambiguity. With self-hypnosis and when communicating with yourself in your own mind in other ways, it is best to avoid words that are ambiguous. Words such as;
Maybe, Desire, Growth, Positive, Negative, Normal, Whole.

You might well use the expression that your desire to stop smoking is increasing. Again, this sounds fine on the surface. However, do you want your desire to stop smoking to increase or your actual ability to stop smoking to increase? If you only increased your desire to stop smoking, it might become a very frustrating experience. Also, you might want to consider referring to your personal growth increasing. It could be referring to something growing on your body somewhere!

Think about the word normal. Who is to say what that is? Do you know specifically what you mean when you refer to anything as being normal? If you are going to use the word normal, I would recommend that you define what that means to you also, be specific about it or just substitute it for the word usual if you can.

Finally, on the topic of words, I would like to point out to you the use of the “Able.” It is one thing being able to do something; it is another to actually do it. If you are going to increase your ability with something, then also ensure you do it.

I realize that this article has offered up many considerations so far with self-hypnosis use of language and internal dialogue. These are just that; considerations.

You can allow yourself to find the right solutions and methods for you. As you get more and more used to being in self-hypnosis or just communicating with yourself more progressively and discovering the kind of suggestions and words that have the most powerful effect for you, then you can fine tune your use of them.

Ten Quick and Easy De-Stressers

A few good relaxation techniques can save your life, because stress is more than just unpleasant. It's also dangerous to your health. Disciplined practices such as meditation can help relieve that stress, but what if you don't have the time or motivation? Maybe you need to try a few of these simple, quick ways to relax and de-stress...you'll feel so much better for it too!

1. Hug someone. Giving a hug means getting one. As long as it's from somebody you don't mind hugging you, this really can be relaxing.

2. Interrupt routines. Go talk to that man sleeping on the bench, or eat lunch on the roof. Just doing anything that breaks you out of your habitual patterns can relieve stress.

3. Have a hot shower. It relaxes your muscles, and any break from more stressful activities can help too. Some find that an alternating hot and cold shower is even more relaxing.

4. Try watching your mind. Spot the stresses lurking just below the surface (hunger, worry, money, a phone call you need to make, a deadline to meet), and you can resolve them and feel more relaxed. If you practice this mindfulness exercise, it may become one of your favorite relaxation techniques.

5. Try laughing. Your own experience shows that this helps you relax, right? Go find someone that knows all the best jokes or just has a great sense of humour, or find something funny in front of you.

6. Use relaxing music. Keep your favorite relaxation CD or MP3 at the office, in the car, or wherever you'll need it most.

7. Leave the room for a while. This can really help if the things in the room or related to it are triggering your stressful thoughts. Why not get out for a little while?

8. Breath deeply. Try five deep breaths through your nose. Close your eyes and pay attention only to your breathing while doing this. It's like a mini-meditation, and perhaps the most effective of the quick relaxation techniques.

9. Drink some chamomile tea. Chamomile tea seems to have a calming effect on the nerves. Any hot tea without caffeine may be relaxing.

10. Walk a while. If you have at least ten minutes to spare, walking is one of the best relaxation techniques. While you're at it, find a pretty place to walk.

Naturally, it is ideal if you can change yourself, so you're naturally more relaxed all the time. Perhaps the thought of the work involved in this just stresses you more. In that case you might have to take it slow, so why not start with one or two of the simple relaxation techniques above and then slowly progress to meditation?

Self Belief: Tune Your Mind to Win

There is a saying that winning and losing are two sides of a coin. All of us would like to be a winner in all our endeavors, but unfortunately very few of us succeed. But there are some people who always turn out to winners. All of us know someone who always is a winner.

Whatever they do, anything they attempt, they meet with success. Be it business, playing a game of cards, finding a date or even if they were to enter the Olympics…hey presto! They are the winners. You know for sure that they’ll win against the odds and find their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Its like they just wouldn’t accept anything but victory. All we do is admire them and wonder how they do it time after time.

Have you ever wondered why winners always win and losers always lose? Perhaps you would like to be let into their little secret. Winners EXPECT only winning. That’s the catch! Sounds pretty simple. Well it is.

Now pause and take a minute to think…. a winner foresees his success. He knows he’s the one who’ll win. He has tuned his mind to win. Most of you have run a race sometime or the other in your lives. What was your mindset before the race? Did you think you’d win before you ran the race or did you contemplate winning only when you were in the race? Perhaps you hadn’t even thought positively and had already seen yourself as a loser.

Whether they are dealing in real estate or buying a car or just about anything, a winner EXPECTS to get exactly what he wants. Even for the Olympics, you bet they’d bag the gold hands down. And they do. And sometimes they do it against all odds. It is this EXPECTATION that makes one a winner, scoring over the rest. There are many athletes who have won against all odds. If we just look around us we can see people who win all the time.

Do you also want to be a winner? What you have to do is…

Keep your eyes closed and imagine you have a particular aspiration in life. Relax and concentrate. Let your mind focus only on the fact you are going to achieve your aim.

Now, shut your eyes once more and EXPECT that YOU WILL achieve your target. Observe a subtle change. Do you not feel more confident?  That’s the difference between letting our mind ponder and waver too much about anything.

Perhaps you can win or lose. But the EXPECTATION has only one likelihood…. winning. You are almost there.

The answer now lies before you. So what do you do next? Apply your mind with full intensity, concentrate on your goal and EXPECT TO WIN. Before any venture, just take a deep breath, relax and pause…. to think and ….TO WIN. Think of the aura of success around you. Bask in that glory of success. Now that you have set your mind on winning, you are surely going to be a winner.

Everything you are going to do or say will spell triumph.
Now that you know the path to winning, the rest is easy. And the chances are you WILL win. One hundred percent. All you require is mindset to win.

Meditation Ideas For People On The Go

Meditation is an ancient ritual that is perfect for individuals seeking a bit of peace, quiet, and inner reflection in their daily lives. However, many individuals believe they do not have the appropriate time to devote to meditation. This practice does not require a special room and hours upon hours of inner reflection to be done properly to receive the most  effective results. In fact, meditation can be done in any quiet corner, including your living room, office, hotel room, or even the plane. In order to achieve the proper meditation in some of these places, you may need to practice certain techniques or bring along special devices that will block noise and ensure quiet for your designated meditation time.

Consider joining a meditation group so that you can effectively learn the methods of meditation before you attempt to meditate in unusual surroundings. The techniques and methods you learn through a learned meditation instructor will help you accomplish your own personal goals of meditation and inner exploration.

Meditation does not have to be incredibly time consuming. Make it a point to dedicate a few minutes each day to your meditation goals and spend some time reflecting inward. Mornings are excellent times to begin meditation, since you at the most at ease during this time and your home is probably the quietest. Consider waking up before the rest of your family to grab a few much needed minutes alone in order to successfully complete your meditation process. This is critical for both men and women with children who find it hard to meditate amidst the noises and demands of children.

When you are on the go, don't leave your meditation practices at home! Consider snapping up a pair of noise canceling headphones to block out noise on trains, planes, or cars. This will allow you the greatest sense of peace and quiet so that you can continue with your meditation techniques. Bring along a special meditation soundtrack of familiar tunes, or specialist meditation music, to which you can also block out unnecessary background noise in order to meditate.

Meditation can be an excellent way to unwind after a long day of traveling, so consider taking time to practice your techniques once you reach your destination. For individuals who are constantly calling hotel rooms home, it can be quite easy to miss your personal meditation space. For this reason, carry a small token or a few items with you on your travels to remind you of home. Consider bringing a favorite blanket, pillow, or mat to aid you in your meditation practices. Also, bring along a photograph of your family or friends to help with the homesickness.

Use scents to transport you to a more serene world. Aromatherapy has been used in conjunction with meditation for thousands of years. Consider beginning your meditation to comforting or exotic smells of incense or candles. For individuals on the go, consider bringing along travel candles or a vial of essential oil that you can leave open to pervade the atmosphere.

Three Inspirations for Happiness

The following three inspirations were adapted from A Daily Dose of Happiness, and they represent three key ways to increase our happiness.

1. FORGIVING FOR HAPPINESS

3. ACCEPTING FOR HAPPINESS

There is no such thing as happiness if you are not at peace with yourself.  Too many people just don't know how to make peace with themselves.

Meditation Techniques: The Art Of Silence

In today's fast-paced world, many people are seeking a way to get away from it all and relax. Meditation, which is essentially a method to obtain a level of deep thought, calm and relaxation, is one way to find inner peace and tranquility. Many people think of monks or other spiritual types sitting in crossed-leg position and reaching states of bliss when they think of mediation, but there are many ways to meditate. (See my last post) While there are many ways to reach a meditative state, there really are no right or wrong ways to mediate (this would defeat the purpose), only practice and finding ways that feel right for you.

Meditation is associated with many religions, but one does not need to be associated with any particular religion in order to meditate. You might want to investigate different methods, however, to find a form of mediation that feels most comfortable. One common method includes repeating a sound or word, called a mantra. Other forms of meditation involve focusing on a visual image, such as the flame of a candle or a symbol. Other meditative techniques involve breathing and physical movements, such as yoga or other breathing practices.

No matter what the method, the tools used in meditation are there to help users reach a state of mental relaxation. Many mediation techniques help you clear your mind of the constant thoughts that normally run through the mind. In reducing or eliminating these thoughts, one can reach a state of deep thought that is associated with meditation.

There are two primary approaches to meditation, which are concentrative meditation and mindfulness meditation. In concentrative meditation, the practitioner focuses on breath, an object, or a sound (mantra). In mindfulness meditation, the practitioner sits quietly and "observes" everything in the environment, including thoughts, sounds, smells, and more. In this form of meditation, the practitioner practices not reacting to the environment (both internal and external), which can lead to a greater ability to act in a non-reactive way in daily life. Both forms of meditation are useful, and one is no better than the other is. Personal preference will determine which method you choose, and you can always try both.

Both physical and mental benefits can result from meditation. This can include increased heart health through relaxation, lowered cholesterol and blood pressure, and a more youthful feeling. Mental benefits can be an increased sense of well-being, decreased anxiety and depression, and emotional stability. Meditation should not be used as a cure for physical or mental ailments, however, but it can be a powerful supplement. Those with physical or mental health conditions should consult with a health care professional before beginning a mediation practice.

Meditation can be quite physical, such as with some types of yoga, or seemingly passive, such as in mindfulness types of mediation. In addition to the types of meditation, there are different stages as well. Generally speaking, in early stages of meditation, the practitioner is more aware of the practice. He or she may have difficulty concentrating on breath or not reacting to thought. With practice, this moves into a stage where one is much less aware. This is followed by a stage of bliss, which is followed by very deep sense of self and all things followed by an ability to reach a stage of deep stillness.

There are many resources available on meditation. Those new to the practice may opt to take part in a class or guide when beginning. Others may prefer to read up on the various options and practice on his or her own. Visit the local library for books and resources or visit a yoga or spiritual center. Meditation can be an enjoyable experience and provide balance to an otherwise hectic life.

Six Types Of Meditation

There are so many different types of meditation. How many? Who knows, but enough so that you can find the one that's right for you. To get your search started, here are six types of meditation you can try.

1. Breath Watching. Can meditating be as simple as paying attention to your breath for a few minutes? You bet! Relax in whatever position works best for you, close your eyes and start to pay attention to your breathing. Breathing through your nose gets your diaphragm involved and gets oxygen all the way to the bottom of your lungs. As your mind wanders, just re-focus your attention on the air going in and out of your nose. Just do this for several minutes, or longer as you get used to it.

2. An Empty Mind Meditation. Meditating can create a kind of "awareness without object," an emptying of all thoughts from your mind. The techniques for doing this involve sitting still, often in a "full lotus" or cross-legged position, and letting the mind go silent on its own. It can be difficult, particularly since any effort seems to just cause more business in the mind.

3. Walking Meditations. This one gets the body involved. It can be outside or simply as a back and forth pacing in a room. Pay attention to the movement of your legs and breathing and body as you walk, and to the feeling of your feet contacting the ground. When your mind wanders, just keep bringing it back to the process of walking and breathing. Meditating outside in this way can be difficult because of the distractions. If you do it outside, find a quiet place with level ground.

4. Mindfulness Meditation. A practice Buddhists call vipassana or insight meditation, mindfulness is the art of becoming deeply aware of what is here right now. You focus on what's happening in and around you at this very moment, and become aware of all the thoughts and feelings that are taking your energy from moment to moment. You can start by watching your breath, and then move your attention to the thoughts going through your mind, the feelings in your body, and even the sounds and sights around you. The key is to watch without judging or analyzing.

5. Simple Mantra Meditation. Many people find it easier to keep their mind from wandering if they concentrate on something specific. A mantra can help. This is a word or phrase you repeat as you sit in meditation, and is chosen for you by an experienced master in some traditions. If you are working on this alone, you can use any word or phrase that works for you, and can choose to either repeat it aloud or in your head as you meditate.

6. Meditating On a Concept. Some meditative practices involve contemplation of an idea or scenario. An example is the "meditation on impermanence," in which you focus on the impermanent nature of all things, starting with your thoughts and feelings as they come and go. In the Buddhist "meditation on the corpse," you think about a body in the ground, as it slowly rots away and is fed on by worms. The technique is used to guide you to an understanding that your rationalizing mind might not bring you to.

There are many other meditations you can try, such as the "meditation on loving-kindness" or "object" meditation, and even meditating using brain wave entrainment products. Each type has its own advantages and effects. For this reason, you may find that at different times and for different purposes you want to use several different types of meditation.  Happy Meditating!

Timelessness of Spirit: A Message to Humanity

Isn't it strange the way the universe works sometimes? There I was, reading a book on ancient human history minding my own business when a voice started dictating me a message, and showed me 'images' of what the communication was all about.

So here's that message, that I was told was very important. The message was sent to me in many ways, and I will do my best to convert it into words only. It was deeply moving to me, as I received it on many levels. I hope my words open the channels to allow you the same understanding.

We are all one, we are all connected through that oneness. We can never escape that fact, it's a universal truth both from a physical and spiritual viewpoint.

'Our dearest friends, I would like to send an important message to you all. Your world is currently a place of much unrest, violence and much hatred. This negativity has and still is creating terrible consequences for many souls.

We would like to relate to you a truth, that once understood fully, will help raise all people, all souls to a higher level of understanding, love and cooperation.

We'd like to talk of just one negative, lost soul. This soul, in human form, was drawn into negativity by others, swept away in a tide of hate, lust, greed and the desire for power. They were responsible for the deaths of millions of people. They escaped any form of Earthly punishment. They did not escape the law of consequences.

This soul will, at some point, live ALL those lives he ended. They will feel the fear, the pain, the hopelessness of all those souls whose journeys they cut short. They will have to endure those millions of  lifetimes. They will also have to live the lifetimes of all those that were affected by their actions, not just those whose lives they ended. They will have to feel the sorrow, the loss, the emptiness and all that those left behind will have felt.

How will they lives these millions of lives? My dear friends, we are all one. Being one we must lives all lives, as there is no other soul that can. Time and space are human concepts, physical concepts that don't exist beyond your dimension. All those lives are lived simultaneously with only space and time creating the illusion of separation.  In truth, everything is timeless, infinite and beyond form and physical comprehension.

Where you are now, the 'body' you inhabit is where your 'concentration' is focused. Similar to when you drive, you rarely notice much around you..and can drive miles without realizing the distance you have driven as you were 'somewhere else.'

Our message is one sent out of our desire to lift humanity. Those amongst you who have lost your humanity, who inflict pain and suffering. we ask you to pause and reflect on these words. We can all help raise ourselves higher by doing to others what we wish for ourselves, because what we do to others IS what we will be doing to ourselves in other lifetimes.

Well, that's the message. I've put it the best way I can. I understand it but it came to me in more than words. It's the timelessness of it all that blows the human mind. We can't physically comprehend eternity and millions of lifetimes all at one moment. But the truth is the truth and that reality can never be changed.

Thanks for reading, I hope you have a great week ahead, and would kindly ask you to spread this message in the hope we can all do our best to make the world a better place for the children of today and for many generations to come.

Some Simple Ways to Have Happy Experiences.

Happiness is a ‘now you feel it, now you don’t’ kind of emotion.  I know this from personal experience and from hearing of the experiences of others.  Sometimes I’m very happy, other times, sad, joyful, contented, frustrated, and sometimes very neutral.

There are many small things that can make me happy as well as give me endless joy.  I’ve listed seven simple methods that I use toward experiencing a happy moment, but first check you have a reference point to the word happy.  Find out what 'happy' really means to you?

1.    Remember or create a ‘happy’ moment.  When you live the experience of being ‘happy’ your mind, body and soul will remember!  Feel the happiness in all parts of you, expand this feeling if need be. Practise this daily.

2.    Access the Present moment.  Notice what happens to you when you’re totally focused on a comedy programme on television, when you listen to light hearted music or when you dance - even if it’s on your own.  I sometimes groove to a tune by the computer when no-one’s looking – it makes me feel good, cool, gives me a break from what I’m doing and I laugh at myself! (I'm sure you would too if you saw me!)

3.    Invite friends over for some play time.  Organise paper, crayons, paint, and coloured pencils, have a few drinks and play party games whatever you can think of and do some drawings or paintings.  You could also ask each person to bring along a plate of food. Good friends doing fun things together is great fun!

 4.    Spend time with nature. Go for a walk down to the beach or park; observe wildlife in your area or visit a plant nursery.  Notice your mood when amongst the spirit of nature, see how it lifts you.

5.    Take something with you that gives you great pleasure. It could be a book, journal for writing or your MP3 player and sit and ‘Be’ under the canopies of trees for a few hours, or on the beach

6.    Learn something totally new. That can be anything, such as another language; pottery or painting, photography or start your meditation, personal or spiritual development program.  You’re only ever limited by your own imagination.

7.    Join a club or group that you have an interest in.  You can then expand your friendship base with other like-minded souls, share ideas and experiences. Good friends are a real boost when it comes to happiness levels..

With any of the above activities assess what and how you’re feeling as well as where you feel the emotion and how much are you laughing, grinning, or smiling?  Remember them totally by living the experience, in the moment, and you will then be able to recall that memory when you want to.

Include in your memories your experiences, and feelings of colours, smells, sounds and tastes – all the better for remembering your happy time with!.

Quiet time spent alone can open the door to the possibility of connection to that most amazing and magical part of you that is your true self, the spirit within, that which we all seek to find..

From my experience the key to a happy life begins with remembering who you are, know what gives you enjoyment, being present, and know that regardless of your circumstances no–one can take away your thoughts or dreams, they are yours to keep for as long as you wish.

Where Souls Meet: Soul Sharing

The more you know and understand about any subject, the more interesting it becomes. As you read this post you'll, hopefully'  find that the subject of human beings meeting in soul is truly an everyday event.

This can, and does happen in a number of ways:

You can do this as you care for a dying loved one.

You can do this when you offer forgiveness to someone who has harmed you.

You do this any time you reach out to help someone in need.

You meet in soul when a baby is born.

You meet in soul each moment of living when you remember who you are.

Truthfully, the only difference between you and the so-called gurus is time. If you'll invest a little more time in reading and living, you'll be that much closer to maturity status when it comes to living in soul. Learning how to live in soul requires reflective analysis and the ability to learn from your mistakes. In so doing, we gain in wisdom through remembering who and what we really are. The instant we remember we are souls having a human experience creates in us a journey into what is most sacred to us.

This is the key to maturing in soul. "Insight" means to see from within. The moment you begin to see through your eyes and not just with them makes you a visionary. A "Visionary" follows his or her dreams or inner visions within them. This is an "act in faith" as though something is already here before it arrives. At this point, you begin to put into place the details of your overall vision through yourself and others.

If your inner vision involves helping someone, yourself, or something die, you will need to draw much of your attention inward. This enables  you to create a vision that will help someone or yourself find comfort in becoming more soul than body over time. If your task is to help something or an event die, your job is to transform this experience into something different. Nothing stays the same. We are all in constant transformation. Transformation means to go beyond form. It is out of the formless all things become form. Everyone of us have this capacity.

Somehow, in the midst of change and sharing our joys and our sorrows, our hearts meet to care. This is the level of soul care and soul healing not meant to be understood, but rather, embraced. Here our souls meet and come to fulfill a purpose and a destiny.

Hopefully the sections advice and info above have helped your understanding of Souls meeting one another. Please share your new understanding about where and how souls can meet with others. I'm sure they'll thank you for it.

You Are Simply Magical!

The attempt to define magic is difficult at best. It is used more as a word to define, than one that can be defined. The same can be said for who you are. We attempt to define ourselves, yet no adequate words exist to describe the complexity and scope of who we are. We can describe what we look like, the type of work we do, our ethnic heritage and gender. Yet, that comes nowhere near the truth of what animates your being.

You are a mystery. You are magic.

Historians, philosophers, scientist and theologians have been searching for the origins and meaning of existence since the beginning of time. Various religions have been born out of an attempt to define the indefinable. We so often engage in the endless pursuit to define who, what and why we are. We measure ourselves against others and their accomplishments. We are deluged each day with media images of what is acceptable or unacceptable. There is an ongoing quest to explain the unexplainable. You are who you are and that is ever changing. You are deliciously indescribable. Each moment you are remade. Every morning when you open your eyes, you begin a new journey. The choices and decisions that you make color and change “who” you are. You are an indefinable, magical being. Have you forgotten this? Have you allowed the world to take away your magic? Each time you have a thought or task and give it life- you are creating! From preparing a meal for your family or painting a picture. Everything you do adds a different dimension to who “you” are. Life is a mystery and by accepting this fact you become one with it and more able to move through it effortlessly.

Think back and remember the last time you were really “in tune” with something you wanted to accomplish. Remember how easy and enjoyable it was to put together all the pieces of the puzzle to create the final outcome? You were not anxious or the least bit concerned about what other people were thinking or doing. (Not that that matters anyway!)  You were one with the energy of your creation. That same dynamic creativity is possible in all aspects of your life. By becoming one with the magical energy of who you really are, you create.

You can also create your own limitations by putting up walls of fear and inadequacy. Embrace your power; consider what you create each and everyday. If you can put together the ingredients to make an apple pie, you can use the same recipe to create anything else you desire. Create a recipe that works for you. Be in harmony with the energy of what you want to bring into your life.  If you have made several attempts with no apparent success- try another way. Add or remove something from the recipe. Be in tune with the Universal force of creative magic.

Where is your energy at this moment? Are you focusing on life affirming activities or caught up with what someone else is doing or not doing? Is your energy directed on how to get someone else to change or do what you want him or her to do? What is the topic of most of your conversations? Think about the last conversation you had. Were you sharing hopes, dreams and ideas or were you complaining about how things are not going the way you want them to? A large percentage of our words, thoughts and energy are given to what is going on around us. By understanding that you are a powerful, magical creative being you regain the power that is wasted on things you cannot control. You cannot control another person’s emotions or actions.

If someone is in your life and they are causing you distress it is because of your choice to remain part of their life. If you are not happy with the situation you are in, it is your choice. You are not your past. You are not what someone did to you or what was taken from you. The events and people in your life have served to shape “who” you are at this moment. The events of today, will further hone who you are tomorrow and so on…

To become a truly empowered being, you have to reach down into the magical place inside of you and utilize your own power. It is not important as to what your spiritual or theological beliefs are. What is important is that you understand the fact that you are a creator. What do you want to create? Peace, harmony and joy or chaos and drama? Are you always feeling angry and frustrated? Being angry or frustrated is only beneficial if it serves to steer you another direction. Conflict can be an incredible catalyst for change if you use the energy to move. Choose to take a different path or look at things from a different perspective. It does not matter how you do it, the important thing is that you get into a place that you want to be.

You are who you are and that is truly “magical”. Do not allow anything or anyone to diminish and cage your personal power. Allowing your inner self to grow and blossom is a process. Magic happens when you leap into mystery and become that which you desire to be. Like attracts like, to manifest magic, you must be magic. Just as you cannot adequately define the mystery of life, do not attempt to define “you”. Embrace the undiscovered parts of who you are. Set out on a course to reveal the mystery that dwells within you. If you must define yourself, you are magic.

Angels and Spirit Guides..They are closer than you think!

Even when you feel as though you are completely alone, there are Divine Companions who are always with you.  Before your incarnation they chose to accompany you through your lifetime- from the moment of your first breath- until your last. Spirit Guides are highly evolved beings that have completed the cycle of birth and death in the physical plane and are now serving as teachers and guides to further elevate their vibrations.  They are as "real" as you are- they are just vibrating at another level and reside in another plane of existence.

They work to guide you by working through your dreams and intuition. That quiet voice you hear is often the voice of your teachers and guides. They may also make themselves known to you through signs and symbols.  For me, when I am at a crossroads in my life or journeying though a personal or emotional challenge- I find feathers everywhere.  I also find coins and hear certain songs.   It is a reminder for me to be still and listen to the guidance of my own personal guides.

Some individuals have one guide and others have multitudes- much of this depends on the path and purpose of your life.  For instance, a teacher/professor may have several guides- one to guide them through the academic nature of their profession and others to assist them with the great emotional requirements of performing such an important task.  A policeman, fireman, or soldier will often have a "team" of warriors guiding and protecting them.  Much of who your guides are is indicative of your own personal journey though this lifetime.

Spirit guides are almost never a loved one who has passed away.  Although our loved ones stay with us in spirit and we can contact them, they do not serve the same role as a "spirit guide".  Some individuals have Archangels and Angels as spirit guides who are always with them.  Yet, the presence of Angels does not always mean they are your spirit guides. Angels can be called in times of distress to assist you for a short time. If you have an Archangel or Angel as a guide, chances are your mission in life is a complex one. Through my experience with being a psychic reader and spiritual advisor- I have found that individuals with a challenging life path often have Angels as spirit guides.

Your spirit guide is always with you, whether you acknowledge their presence or not. You cannot call them to you or send them away- they are part of you and your journey.  However, you can choose to gain the knowledge of who they are and what their role in your life is.  You can interact with your spirit guides in a more proactive way.  If you want to know who your guides are, just ask.  Get in a quiet and meditative space and ask that they reveal themselves to you. Do not get discouraged if you do not figure it out right away. Beings from the spiritual realm often communicate through signs, symbols and dreams.  Once you ask- you must trust your own wisdom.  Pay attention to the pictures that appear in your mind. If you see a man in a suit- stay with that- it could be he is a philosopher or scientist.  You may see a Native American Indian, a Buddhist Monk or you may see nothing at all.  Keep your mind and intuition open.  Pay attention to things that keep coming up after you have asked that they reveal who they are.  If you are having a challenge discovering who they are you can also contact a professional psychic/intuitive to assist you.

Working with your spirit guides can be an incredible tool for your own personal and spiritual growth. Unlike beings who are in the physical- their wisdom and advice is not influenced by the "world".  They dwell in a higher vibrational plane and the mundane particulars of your situation are not relevant.  For example- if you seek guidance from your spirit guide regarding a relationship- they will lead you to focus on what you are learning, what you need to learn, what you are teaching your partner, and what is the true meaning of your relationship.  The fact that they leave the toilet seat up or are terrible at budgeting the household finances will be irrelevant.  The information that you will be provided with- will be actions that YOU can take to gain more understanding.  You can also ask your Spirit Guides to assist you in physical healing.  Before you go to sleep, ask that as you are sleeping- you receive healing.

You are never alone. Never.  Take faith in knowing and understanding that there is so much magic and mystery in this life. Just for a moment let the "world" disappear. Raise your vibration and allow the beautiful gifts of spirit wash over you.  Life is so much more than what we see.  Open your spiritual eyes and hearts and you can discover a world of wisdom, beauty and peace that you never knew existed.  Of course, you can always choose to not believe. It is always your choice. But, why not?  Why not step into another level of existence? Why not believe in magic? You do not have to announce it to the office, but you can embrace the wonders of spirit in your own heart. It will envelope you in a light of love and understanding- and will mysteriously transform you to a more connected and loving being.

Ways To 'See' and 'Feel' Your Eternal Energy...

Who remembers 'Star Wars?' ...The saying that followed for a generation was 'May the force be with you!'

Now, in 2011, modern science is starting to overlap into spirituality and recognize that there is indeed a 'force' or energy that flows through, underpins and that is, the universe. Not just this physical dimension...but all dimensions. Science now accepts that that energy is influenced by thoughts (consciousness) and expectations of the observer. In short, the scientists get the results they expect to see!

As we are all consciousness, all connected to the universe, in effect...all is one... we CAN influence out lives.

This post is to help you 'see' and 'feel' the energy of consciousness (or at least one level of it).

So..here we go!

First, find a darkish background and a shaded room. Rub you hands together vigorously. Next, as per the picture, put your fingertips together, and slowly move them apart, whilst looking at the wall of darkish background behind. Try not to focus on your fingers, but on the background. You should be able to see a greyish-white 'mist' between your fingers. Some see 'waves' of energy or light..the important thing is, practice rubbing your hands together and trying to see the 'flow'... once you do..you'll be able to accept the idea that you are energy, in the form of consciousness, much more easily.

Here's another little way I teach people how to 'feel' their energy.
As before, rub your hands together vigorously. Where you do it this time doesn't matter, as we're trying to 'feel' rather than 'see' the flow. (But you can try to see it if you feel you want to).
As in the picture, place your writing hand at 90 degrees to your non-writing hand. Now...focus on your non-writing hand and slowly move your writing hand up and down. Try different distances, but you should feel the flow as a 'tingle' or 'coldness' as the fingertips pass down the non-writing hand.

Good luck with the little exercises... I hope they work for you...and that you can both 'see' and 'feel' the energy you possess, and energy and flow that we ALL possess and use daily...most of us without knowing it!

Out of Body..But I Don't Mind...

The other day I was a passenger on a bus. Not very interesting in itself, but with my habit of 'people watching and listening' it proved a very informative day.

Listening to a couple of elderly people complaining about rising prices and having a 'competition' to see whose state of health was worst!

Listening to a group of young mums all battling to say there child was the brightest, the smartest, the most athletic and the most likely to do well in life.

Listening to a group of older teenagers saying how they couldn't find work..how they'd tried but given up in the hope that they could get free government handouts and training.

And finally, the bus driver, saying how he wished he could win the lottery so he could live the life of his dreams.

So many sad and despondent people, so many people in competition with one another, people with no hope or future that they could see.

And I asked myself the question...is this the way society (and millions of people) across the globe see the world?? ..Could this be one of the reasons behind the recent uprisings in the middle east?... Or the riots in the UK?

Inspiration, hope, love and a helping hand are so urgently needed at this time. Maybe a realization of who and what they are would help..so this post and the ones that follow are dedicated to all those people...

I would like you to read this, then close your eyes and try it out... not once or twice, but everyday. It will remind you of who you REALLY are, WHERE you are and help you find WHY you are here, now, at this time.

Sit or lay down, take a few deep, controlled breaths and close your eyes. Continue to focus on your breathing, slowly, but deeply in and out. As you focus on your breathing, sounds around you will fade into the distance as you become focused only on your breathing.

Feel yourself becoming very light, light as a feather, gently floating..allow yourself to rise...gently and slowly.

What will happen?

Your first step to an out of body experience. Some people do it first time, others a little longer. It varies depending on how relaxed you are and how powerful your visualizations become.

You may hear sounds (like the wind, music or voices).. these are natural, so don't worry. You're simply moving to another energy level, slightly higher than this physical plane ( some would say the astral plane).

Practice this technique and you can have some wonderful experiences..and always keep in mind.. YOU are in control.. I'll explain more in my next post.

Until then... Happy Travelling!

In Your Mind's Eye..

There's a saying that goes,  "Only a blind man can see the truth."

So what truth do you see in your minds eye? Do you see negativity, problems, anger, loathing, envy, jealousy? Or do you see Love, forgiveness, compassion, joy, friendship or oneness?

What we think (or see in our thoughts) reflects into our consciousness to become our reality. If we constantly have negative thoughts, we'll lead a predominantly negative life. If we see positive ones...you guessed it..a happier more positive life.

Now, lets look at those negative thoughts you've been having.

Now, it's a strange question I know, but those thoughts are usually related to people or events in your life 'caused' by people. So, will these thoughts you have, that you feel so strongly about, matter to anyone, anywhere in 100 years time? Will history record them? Unless it affects the whole world (Like 9/11)...I don't think so..

Those thoughts matter to you now, you go over them, brood on them, swearing to get even or get one up on someone...I've news for you..Don't bother! If you give someone or something your attention, you give it meaning and reality in your life. I'm sure you don't want negativity in your life..so don't give negativity the chance to become your reality.

The secret is to watch your thoughts..'step back' from yourself occasionally and say "Is this the way I want to be?".....

If you catch yourself with anything negative, replace it with a positive. As long as you can live a 51% positive thought life (but preferably more!) ..you'll be going to where you want to go. Your thoughts are your prelude to your reality, watching them well is one way to improving your life....

Positivity and Post-Its!

Positive suggestions have been used for thousands of years as a way to improve oneself.

Below are given a list of suggestions for various things you may want to achieve, I have tried to list the most obvious, but if you have any specific needs just follow the instructions given below.

You can use these suggestions on the recordings or when using the ‘Eye Roll’ technique. (See my next post!)
You can also use these suggestions in other ways. You can simply say them to yourself during the day (whenever you remember them!) This way will take a bit longer to get results, allow a month or two, depending on the frequency you use the affirmations.

You can also write them down. I use small stickers, like post-its,  if you have a computer at work, stick your affirmation or statement on it, you will see if many times during the day. (Another form of ‘subliminal programming’!)
You can carry your statement on a card in your wallet or purse, every time you open it, you see your statement. You can also draw a mini picture of your desired outcome on the card. It doesn't have to be a Rembrandt! A quick sketch will suffice, as long as it reminds you and allows you to imagine the outcome visually in your mind.

You can, of course, combine all the techniques for quicker results.
At the end of the day, how you proceed is your choice. Choose your own way, because the way you choose would always be the best for you.

RULES FOR FORMULATING A SUGGESTION.
1)      Always use the present tense
2)      Always be positive.
3)      Be specific.
4)      Keep it simple (single sentences)
5)      Use exciting, imaginative words.
6)      BE REALISTIC
7)      Be repetitive
8)      Be repetitive!!!!!

Below are some examples I would use;

For Smoking.
I have no desire or urge for a cigarette.
I detest the taste of cigarettes.
I am now a non-smoker.

For Weight Control.
I now eat more healthily.
I maintain my ideal weight easily.
I eat only at meal times.

For Confidence.
I am a positive, dynamic outgoing person
I have great inner strength and belief in myself.
I am immensely self-assured.

For Concentration.
I give my attention to one thing at a time.
I have enormous powers of concentration.
I have total and complete faith in my memory.

For Money Making Ideas.
Highly original and practical ideas for making money flow to me constantly.
I think positively and constructively about everything.
Money flows to me easily.

For Willpower.
I am strong, positive and resolute.
I am strong willed and decisive.
I have a will of iron.

For Changing Your Luck
I constantly enjoy good luck.
Good fortune constantly comes my way.
I am always positive and optimistic.

For Temper Control.
I am always relaxed and in command of myself.
I have immense self-control
I am forever peaceful and calm.

For better health.
My body is strong, robust and healthy.
I feel marvelously fit, healthy and strong.
My body has iron willed resistance against all infection.

For Attracting The Opposite Sex.
Members of the opposite sex are attracted to me.
My personality is so dynamic that like a powerful magnet, members of the opposite sex are naturally drawn to me.
I have immense sex appeal.

For learning a foreign language.
I really enjoy and love learning the (French-or whatever) language.
I have a perfect understanding of (French) grammar.
I consciously remember everything I learn in the (French) language.

For Increased Psychic Powers.
I am deeply psychic and intuitive.
I have great psychic power.
I have the power to see into the future (or heal, dowse or whatever it is you seek).

The list can go on and on. You decide where you want to go, follow the simple rules and enjoy the getting there !!

The three most important things to remember are;
Be positive.
Be realistic
Be repetitive.

Follow the guidelines and change your life, it is as simple as that.
May I take this opportunity in wishing you all the best for the future.
